Meet the Instructors and Therapists

The instructors and therapists of the Center are united in their commitment to teaching and promoting lifelong health and wellness. They are either certified and/or registered in their respective areas of specialization, or are currently completing the certification process.
 

Kathy Doyle
(Yoga Instructor)

As a runner of 5K's and marathons, and avid player of tennis, softball, and volleyball, Kathy grew to appreciate the health benefits of yoga long before she began teaching the art. Kathy has lived in Danville since 1976 and has been teaching yoga for over two years. She is completing her training as a Sport Yoga Instructor with John Spencer Ellis of the National Endurance Sport Trainers Association. Katlin Hecox (Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, Life Coach)

Katlin brings her passion for energy and bodywork to the Center. She has been practicing healing arts for over 25 years and received bodywork training at the Santa Monica Massage School, Esalen, and at the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts. In addition to Swedish, Deep Tissue and Esalen massage, Katlin has certifications in Zero Balancing, LaStone Massage, Reiki and Life Coaching with Beyond Success. Karen B. Maute
(Registered Yoga Teacher, Meditation Facilitator)

Karen and her family have lived in Danville since 1986. She began her practice of yoga in her late forties "...and I have been slowly moving toward union and balance." She completed her study of Hatha Yoga in April of 2004 at the North Carolina School of Yoga. Karen may be reached at the Center (434) 822-0007 or (434) 797-3460.


Eric Petry (Certified Reiki Practitioner, Meditation Facilitator)

Eric is a practitioner of Shaolin Kempo Karate, and isthe founder of Danville's Lotus River Sangha. He is also a Level I and II certified Reiki practitioner. Eric may be reached at the Center (434) 822-0007.



David I. Rosenberg, Ph.D., LCP

(Certified T'ai Chi Fundamentals Instructor, Certified Reiki Master/Instructor)

Dr. Rosenberg is a Professor of Psychology at Averett University and a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in Danville, Virginia. He completed certification as a T'ai Chi Fundamentals (TCF) instructor under Tricia Yu of the T'ai Chi Center in Madison, Wisconsin, and also practices qigong and Yang style t'ai chi. Dr. Rosenberg is also a certified Reiki Master/Instructor, and is a member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals. Dave Shevitts
(Registered Yoga Teacher)

Dave completed certification as a Yoga instructor in 2007 from the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, MA. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in fine arts in 1970 at the San Francisco Art Institute. Prior to embarking on his "second career" as a yoga teacher, Dave taught art classes, and was chairperson of his K-12 art department in Queensbury, NY for ten years.
